Katy Wood
Practicum Counsellor
MACP (in progress)
Hi, I’m Katy, a dedicated practicum counsellor and Registered Psychotherapist (qualifying) at Blue Oaks. I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
With a foundation in a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of British Columbia, I’ve cultivated a deep appreciation for understanding the complexities of human thought and emotion.
My approach to counselling is deeply person-centred and rooted in fostering meaningful relationships. I am committed to creating a safe and non-judgmental space in which you can explore and embrace your full, authentic self. As Thich Nhat Hanh observed, “the most precious gift we can offer others is our presence.” I am here to walk alongside you on your path toward healing and self-discovery.
I tailor each therapeutic journey to meet your unique needs, integrating evidence-based techniques and tools. Whether it’s through mindfulness-based practices, trauma-informed therapy, or cognitive-behavioral strategies, our collaborative efforts will focus on honing your skills, expanding your resources, and enhancing your overall well-being.
